Jeepite Cabochon#1

This is a piece of Jeepite, no it's not a rock, yes it's paint layered and layered. Old paint like this on is the best to polish, over 40 years of curing makes the paint hard and solid! This hunk of paint if from a Jeep factory (yes, it makes a difference) So the chunk is usually from overspray on a pipe or wall. Then we take it and cut it down and shape it and polish it. We like to cut them so that we polish through the layers and end with a piece like this. The measurements are roughly 5x2.75 cm and 7 mm thick.

The back of this is flat and unpolished and was made with a silver smith in mind. the Edges are slightly beveled inwards to allow for better placement/hold of a bezel.
